Creative strategist

Artist, designer, planner, writer, thinker, and (amateur) philosopher.

I was the kid who was always scribbling on something, always doodling in their school books and who came alive during art or design lessons.

I’ve always been a creator, and I’m never happier than when using my brain to make something. The free time I spend on personal hobbies - drawing, building and renovating furniture, making things with my kids - in its attention to detail, freedom of thinking and creativity - informs the work I do in my job and career.

I’m a creative strategist and thinker, a logician, I love making connections between disparate elements to make order out of them and consistency across messaging and communications.

Whether it’s discovering and telling a brand’s story and tying it in with a visual language, building a narrative or establishing a presence. Whether visually or strategically, I’m in my element when I’m helping create and build, re-build or re-organise something that didn’t previously exist - something that fits as best as it possibly can to the purpose for which it’s being designed.

I’m a husband and a dad - which naturally has most of my attention.

In the precious spare time left over, I keep fit, practice meditation, walk and swim. I’m a wannabe surfer, sadly more by intent than in practice but it’s something I’ve done since I was a teenager and still do it whenever it’s practical.

I read a lot, in a broad range of subjects from philosophy and self-development, branding and design, to exploration and adventure, historical biographies and classic literature.

I also draw - mostly the old-fashioned way, but also on my iPad, usually while at another of my son’s swimming sessions.
